Introduction
In Romans 11:25-32, the Apostle Paul revealed a mystery to his Gentile readers (for the most part, that is us). The mystery unveils God’s mercy in the sequence of God’s sovereign plan for history. We will unpack the details of this mystery in the morning worship service.
The elements of the service will focus on the culmination of God’s plan for history—the reign of his Son, Jesus.

Proclamation
Hymn 220 Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken
Note: This hymn uses the imagery of the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21) to describe the future perfection of the church in the presence of the Lord. This confident hope shapes the way we live today.
Worship through Giving
Hymn 13 Rejoice, the Lord is King!
Note: Jesus was rejected by the religious rulers when he came precisely because they did not want him as King. But he is Savior and King for all who trust him.. Thus we “rejoice in glorious hope!”
Scripture Reading
Exodus 33:17-23
Note: God revealed his character to Moses in a dramatic theophany (physical appearance). He revealed his sovereignty with the words, “My name is the LORD; I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy.”
Pastoral Prayer
Hymn 51 Jesus Shall Reign
Note: The hope of God’s people is anchored to God’s promised King. One day Jesus’ kingdom will “stretch from shore to shore.” In anticipation of his return, we call “Let every creature rise and bring honor and glory to our King.”

Response
Hymn 641 Immanuel’s Land
Note: This hymn looks ahead to the day when Christ’s followers will have their expectant hope fulfilled. We will see “the Lord there in his beauty.”
I will not gaze at glory,
But on my King of grace:
Not at the crown He giveth,
But on His pierced hand
